TENSE SITUATION IN BULGARIA

RESIGNATION OF CABINET. PROTEST AT PUNISHMENT OF PROMINENT PEOPLE. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Saturday, 12.15 a.m. SOFIA, April 19. General Zlatev’s Cabinet has resigned as a sequel to the earlier resignation of four Ministers as a protest against the authorities’ action in arresting several prominent people, including the ex-Promiers Tsankoff and Gheorgieff, who are being interned on the lonely island of St. Anastasia, where there is only a lighthouse. Tsankoff and various associates arc being interned because they have not dissolved their party, called the Social Popular Movement, thereby violating a decree issued last year. Ghcrogicff and others were arrested for publishing allegations against General Zlatev and other prominent people. It is expected that a military Cabinet will be installed, as the Army Afficers’ League is at present prominent in politics. The situation is tense and troops are standing by in the event of emergencies.
