DUKE HAS CRUISE ON HARBOUR.

LATER GOES TO THE TALKIES. MAY ATTEND BOTH DAYS OF MARTON RACES. (By Telegraph-Press As3n. —Copyright). AUCKLAND, This Day. Although the Duke of Gloucestar's entry to Auckland was through its back door, to-day his Highness had an opportunity of passing through the front door, as a result of a launch ■cruise on a portion of the harbour. With the Royal party aboard, the Eongo anchored off Rangitoto for a picnic luncheon. The Duke and mem. bers of his suite had lines out from Rangitoto beacon in quest of schnapper, the fish on this occasion not biting. A fair sea was running in the harbour, but the water was calm under the shelter of Auckland's rocky sentinel.

Accompanied by their Excellencies, the Duke to-night attended the talkies for the first time since his arrival and saw the screening of "The Count of Monte Cristo" at a local theatre, which was crowded to capacity. He leaves Auckland at 10.45 a.m. for Hamilton, en route to Chateau Tongariro, where ho is due at • 10.50 on Saturday night. He will spend Sunday at the Chateau and on Monday leaves by road for Mr T. A. Duncan's estate at Hunterville, where he will have an opportunity of examining thoroughbred stock and seeing extensive shearing operations in progress.

On Tuesday he will attend the Marton races and will spend the night at Mr Duncan's home. Ho is expected to be present also at the second day of the races.

At 9 p.m. on Wednesday ho will rejoin the Eoyal train at Hunterville for Ohakune, where he is due two hours and a-half later. The original programme will then be resumed, the Royal train being scheduled to reach New Plymouth at 9.45 a.m. on Thursday.
