PERSONAL.

'Regret will Ibe felt by many friends that in consequence of the foot injury /he received through ibeing struck by a car last week, Mr R. D. Knight, the well-known Longiburn sheep and horse breeder, and a prominent member of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, will ibe compelled to rest for a numlber of weeks at home, though the inury is showing a' slight improvement.

Striking tribute to the popularity iand esteem in which the late Kenneth Henry Lankshear was held .by his school anaites and friends was evidenced at his funeral on Monday, (when a large number of mourners followed the casket to its last refiting place in the Levin 'Cemetery. Prior to the cortege leaving the house a short .service was Conducted by Rev. W. G. Slade, who also took the service at 'the graveside. The pall-ibearers were Messrs S. Barclay, S, Morris, A. C. Keimerley, G. Atcus, J. B. Bateman and J. Parsons A large number of beautiful floral tributes were received, including tokens of esteem from the Methodist Sunday School. Loyal 'Orange Lodges, Methodist Ladies' Guild, and the Levin Silver Band.

The death of Foxton's oldest lousiness man, Mr Archibald Beginald Osborne( aged 08 years, occurred on Christmas- morning. Mr 'Osborne was born at Aldemey, Channel Islands, in 1866 and at the age of 16 accompanied his parents to .New Zealand on the ship [Lady Jocelyn, proceeding immediately to Foxton, where he had resided until the time of his death. He followed the tailoring trade and could lay .claim to having ,been in business in Foxton longer than any other person. Mr Osl>orn entered the Palmerston North Hospital a short time ago for treatment and subsequently underwent an operation. He leaves a wife and family of three daughters, Mrs P. Gudgeon and Misses Mereia and Bea Os'borne, of Foxton. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the service being conducted bv Bev. W. Macdonald.
