TIGER GAIN BEATS CARFEX IN HIGGIE HANDICAP. SPRINT WON BY REREATU, The Wanganui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting was concluded on Saturday in line though breezy weather. There was a good attendance and the track was in splendid order. The totalisator investments amounted to £11,015 during the day, as compared with £9277 10s for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £18,611 10s, as' against £15,531 .in 1933, the increase being £3OBO 10s.

The Ashburton spring races werp held to-day in fine but cold weather. The track was good and the attendance good,, and the totalisator handled £7743 10s as against £6164 for seven events last year. After the Longbeach Handicap ' the stewards held an inquiry into a complaint by Brodie against Murfitt, alleging interference at the turn into the straight. After hearing the evidence the stewards took no action.

Chatham, although challenged and pressed by Closing Time, won comfortably by three-quarters of a length, with two and a half lengths between second and third. Silver Scorn was a bad last. Time, 1.39.

Nightly pulled up slightly lame.

The Brush Hurdle was won by Nowbold Boy, which just boat Groonsea by a nock. Tho In tier, carrying the staggering bunion of 13.13, received’ a great ovation. Clangor was third.

In (ho 11 ighwoight Uaadicao Capns was llfth and Koyal Amphora unplaced. In (ho second division King of Diamonds was unplaced. Autopsy got badly away from the barrier in the Camellia Stakes. The Masquerader made a brilliant finishing run, but struck trouble in the straight.
