The proposed new IYA broadcasting: studio will be erected at the top of Shortlaiid street, near its junction with. Emily place. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board is completing the purchase of a property previously owned by Mrs Haines, widow of the late Dr. Humphrey Haines. The price has not been disclosed. The section is nearly half an acre. At present it is thickly wooded and . has a threestoreyed concrete residence damaged by ftre, which has been unoccupied for many years. The Broadcasting Board intends to erect a three-storeyed building .to accommodate the studio and office premises.
