CONTROL OF RACING.
N.Z. CONFERENCE MEETS. APPLICATIONS FOR REMISSIONS DECLINED. AVONDALE DATES TO BE RECONSIDERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Racing Conference opened today. . In the absence of Mr A. S. Watkins owing to illness, Mr Oliver Nicholson, read the presidential report. The reports of the stewards and the racecourse detectives were received.
An application by R. H. Powell, of Dargaville, for remission of the balance of the term of three years' disqualification in connection with the Bronze Tray case, was refused. A similar application by the jockey L. H. Watson, who was disqualified for life in connection with the ißoyal Survey case, was also declined.
An amendment was carried to the dates in the committee *s report, in that the committee reconsidered the granting of October. 14th and 16th to the Avondale Jockey Club, in view of the objection by the Waikato Trotting Club The Wairarapa Racing Club protested against Hawke's Bay being again granted March 31st, but the consequent amendment was defeated.
