King's Cup to de Havilland
139.14 MILES PER HOUR Eeceived Sunday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, July 9. Captain de Havilland, flying a Leopard Moth of his own design, won the King's Cup, averaging 139.14 miles an hour. He passed the post a few feet ahead of Flight-Lieutenant Edwards, flying a Couiper-Swift. Four minutes covered the six finalists, including Mrs. Butler. Thirtyfive starters competed in the handicap knockout competition of four rounds each of 200 miles non-stop. Captain Stainforth won the prize for the highest speed in the first round, doing 160* miles an hour. Prince George's Percival Gull achieved the fastest time in the third round, 154jj miles per hour.
