CANTERBURY AERO CLUB’S HEAVY LOSS CHRISTCHURH, Last Night. The need for either building up commercial flying activities or of increasing the number of social members in order to improve the financial position of the club was emphasised by speakers at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Aero Chib to-night. The loss on the year’s working was shown as £444 and £199 had been spent on the visit of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. It was stated that the club could not make instruction pay at the foes now charged, and the only hope to avoid further encroachment on the capital reserve would be the extension •of commercial flying. The expenses of maintenance of the machines amounted to £lO per week, it was stated.
