Abusing Hire Purchase System
CASES OF HABJDSHIP IN CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. An attack on the hire purchase system with particular reference to the seizure of goods when payment was almost completed was made at a meeting Of the executive of the Metropolitan Relief Association this evening, cases of hardship caused by the seizure of furniture were quoted. On the other hand it was stated that vendors mostly gave a reasonable period of grace before seizure. The suggestion made \fras that the vendor' should be allowed to distrain only for the amount of the balance owing. Th 6 executive decided to refer the rnatter to the housing section of the* Business Men’s Relief 06ininittee.
