BASKETBALL
TWO MATCHES AT OTAKI, (Otaki Mail). Basketball is still growing in popularity in the district, and is now watched with interest by a number of Spectators. On Saturday at Otaki there were two matches on the domain, and both proved good ones, although the scores were fairly one-sided. Levin “A,” a really smart team, played well to defeat Otaki by 17 —8. It was a good even go for a time but the goal-throwing of the visitors was very accurate. In midfield there was some smart play. In the match between Eahui and Magpies (Levin) there was some clever play, and the manner in which both sides handled the ball did them every credit. There was some quick and accurate passing while the girls, specially -Raimi, combined well. Once in the goal area they threw the bail well, and very few chances were missed. The slippery nature of the ground interfered with play somewhat, but players were quite cheerful and took their falls as a matter of course. Rahui eventually won, 21—1, but the Magpies should' in no way be discouraged as they possess players who will soon be equal to the 1 est. Miss Pengclly (Levin) ably controlled both games. j
