WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
TE HOBO. There was a good attendance at the May meeting of the Te Horo Women's Institute, held in the hall on Thursday, Mrs. Blake again presided. After the business part was over, the President introduced Miss Graham, who then gave a most interesting address on the “Douglas Social 'Credit System," which was greatly appreciated by those present. There was one new member nominated, Miss .S. Beauchamp. Four competitions were held; the first, the best arranged bowl of chrysanthemums, was exhibited by Mrs. Barber, Snr., with Mrs. Blair second. When arranged on the table, the vases of blooms, of which there were many, made a beautiful display. The prettiest tinsehpaper picture was made by Mrs. Spiers, with Mrs, Tattle's entry next. Mrs., Muir exhibited the best darn in Jensen was second; and Mrs. Empson was first for the best button-hole, with Miss Empson second.
An enjoyable afternoon-tea -was ■served by the hostesses, Mesdames Gawler and Cleland, and Misses N. Cleland and R. Sinkinson.
