W.D.F.U.

A meeting of tlie committee of the W.D.F.U. w,as held on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Mervyn Gorringe, President, presiding over the following attendance : Mesdames Blenkhorn, Wright, F. Gorringe, Evans, Nicholson, Stallard, Davies, Gimblett, Coles, Summers, Page, Adkin, Sorraghan, Macdonald, Procter, Best, Geo. Brown, Sutton, Bartholomew, W. Kyder and E. Brown. Apologies were received from Mesdames' Goldsmith, Bevan, Griffiths, Golquhoun, Lancaster, Twisleton and Bishop. Two remits were submitted to the meeting and after discussion it was decided to forward both for consideration at the Division’s annual conference to -be held in July. The remits were as follows: ,'“That reports of criminal sex cases in the newspapers be censored as children are recommended to read papers as a help to civics.” “That the Railway Department be approaeiiect .with a view 7 to its supplying a through carriage for invalids to facilitate the journey to and from Rotorua.”

A tea committee was elected to supervise tea arrangements for the year’s activities. The following ladies consented /to act in this capacity: Mesdames Procter, Davies, Summers and Gimblett. Members agreed to undertake the work of notifying members of the Division of any future functions, so that all members will receive adequate notice of any efforts that the branch is making. Members, their friends and anyone interested in the work: of the Division are' reminded that a social afternoon will be held in the W.D. room on Tuesday, June 6th, at 2 p.m, A committee consisting of Mesdames Wright (chairwoman), Geo. Brown, Bartholomew, Summers, Procter, MacDonald, Gimblett, iColkjuhoun and Miss York ’ (secretary) werp elected to carry on the market exchange and members are reminded' that any saleable goods will be carefully handled and disposed of for them at the market each Tuesday. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. Afternoon tea was then dispensed by Mesdames M»rvyn and F. Gorringe.
