The annual meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently in the Salvation Army Hall in Bath Street. Mrs Cummins (President) presided over a good attendance. After devotion and the usual business session, the reports of the various departments were given and discussed. The President then spoko a few. words of encouragement, and thanked her officers very much for the good work they had done during the year. A 'hearty welcome was accorded, to the Rev. Mr Pate who was then voted to the chair.
|The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mrs Sorensen; minute secretary, Mrs Davie; corresponding secretary, Mrs Rawson; treasurer, Mrs Kennerley (reelected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Slade, Pate and Young; evangelistic superintendent, Mrs Pate; Cradle Roll superintendent, Mrs Nye; literature superintendent, Mrs W. Allan; White Ribbon agent, Mrs Storey (pro tern); Press reporter, Mrs Moxhani. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Press and also to the retiring officers.
Afternoon tea was served and the Rev. Mr Pate spoke a few words of help and comfort and trusted the W.C.T.U. would go forward to achieve even more than it had done in the past. The meeting closed with the Benediction. The broadcast, which the members had the pleasure of listening to at Mrs Logan's residence at the previous meeting was specially arranged by 2YA and was a. talk on "Homes and Other Lands," by Miss M. Milan, of Victoria University.
