| On the- motion of Mr MacDonald, seconded by Mr Clift, it was decided j to extend the activities of the Club to include control of tlie practical extension of the girls' home science course. A subcommittee, consisting of Messrs W. E. Kilsby and J. Casey, was appointed to make the nceessary arrangements both for the boys' and girls' extension courses next year until the date of the annual meeting. EXTENSION IN CALF COMPETITION. Notice of motion for the annual meeting, with the object of extending the scope of the calf-rearing competition to include entries from pupils of the Secondary Department up to 14 years of age, was given by Mr Philip, the seconder being Mr Kilsby. The motion is as follows: —"That Rule 9 of the calf-rearing competition be altered to read as follows: —'Competitors must be (a) primary school pupils attending Classes 111. to "VI. inclusive, or (b) proficiency or competency'certificate holders attending any school; provided that all Secondary, Technical or Standard VII. pupils must be under the age of 14 years on December 31st of the year in which they enter; such competitors to enter in the primary school they last attended.'' The meeting unanimously .approved the notice of motion, which will be submitted to the vote of the annual meeting. '

RECOMMENDATIONS AS ,TO FUTURE AWARDS.

Recommendations arising out of this gear's work were made as follows, for presentation to the incoming committee: —

1. That the judges at the preliminary judging adjust/ the marks so that no two of the first three competitors have the same work. This means that only one of each class of badge will be awarded* in each school. 2. That Education Board certificates of merit and Department of Agriculture certificates of merit be given only to those who gain first-class badges. 3. That the cost of rearing of several calves be advertised. (This might apply to a selection such as the winning entry, the most expensive, and the most economical). 4. That badges be awarded to the first three competitors in each school on marks gained at pi*elimiiiary judging on calves ,and records. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. The Committee expressed its thanks to the Wellington Education Board and the Department of Agriculture, for their assistance and advice; to the Levin District High School Committee for the use of a room for meetings and the grounds for judging purposes; to the Home and School Association, for assistance with refreshments; to the "Chronicle," for full reports of meetings and for printing the championship ribbon; to Mr W.
