OLD FRIENDS FOREGATHER.
A number of , old friends and associates, including several business men, assembled to do Mr Jess White honour'on Friday evening, in the rooms of .the Regal cake-shop.
In making the presentation to him of a smoker’s companion, Mr K. Aitken spoke in appreciation of Mr White’s high standing in musical circles’ and his help to the community on this account,- also of his social activities, and his war service.
Mr T. G. Vincent supplemented these remarks, and paid special tribute to their guest’-s up-to-date methods and organising ability, : The sentiments of the gathering as a whole found hearty expression in musical honours.
In returning thanks, Mr White ferred with much satisfaction to the pleasant relations that had existed between the townspeople and himself.
During the evening, songs were contributed 'by Messrs Vincent, H. Denton and‘White, and elocutionary items by' Mr Aitken. A very sociable function, was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mr White will leave Levin at 8.30 oa Thursday, and his address will pt XiM.C.A., Auckland." ■/ * ' :' r / 'A - ; r i ■■■
