Three Years’ Disqualification

HECTOR GRAY OUT AGAIN. THREE JOCKEYS ALSO STOOD DOWN AUCKLAND, Last Night. Seven disqualifications were imposed by the judicial committee of the Dargaville Racing Club as a result of the further inquiry into the running v of the President’s Handicap at Dargavillfe *n December. 3, and following are the terrins of the disqualifications;—

The horse, Bronze Tray, three years. E. A. Powell, of - Dargayille, owner oE. Bronze -Tray, three; years. Powell, of Whangarei, brother of - E... A.- Powell, three years. Hector Gray, of Takanini, trainer, three years. * A. G Murray, jockey, two years. . E. L -A, Horne, jockey, one year. L. Clifford,' apprentice- jockey, one year.-

THfe' ground of the disqualifications was' that the persons named were guilty of corrupt and fraudulent practice ,by conspiring to assist Tetrarfchate to win the President’s Handicap. The; President’s Handicap carried a stake of £125 and it was run over a distance of nine furlongs. It resulted as-follows:

4 ALLOY, Mr. W. H. Maria’s br g, 6yrs (Thespian—Bronze), 8.9 (O. W. Melually) .... .... 1 1 Totrarchate, Mr C. M. Emanuel’s bg, 6yrs, 7.0 (H. Gilmer) .... 2 5 Hannibal, Mr. H. Swaffield's ch g, 6yrs, 7.0 (E, Horne) .. .. o

Also started: 3 Bronze Tray, Mr. R. A, Powell’s, 9.5 (A. G. Murray), 2 Thespis, Mr. G. Hodgson’s, 7.4, car. 7.0 (L. Clifford).

Won by half a length, with a length between second and third. Time, 2.1 4-5.

The race was one of the most curious that has been seen on an Auckland course for a long time, and the only excitement in the contest was when Alloy ran past the odds-on favourite, Tetrarchate, in the straight and beat him home by half a length. From the start Tetrarchate set a slow pace and along the back was about two lengths ahead of Alloy, with Thespis, Hannibal and Bronze Tray following at intervals. The field was spread out a surprising distance considering the slow pace that was made, and Tetrarohate’ appeared certain to win when he came into the straight a good two lengths clear of Alloy and Hannibal, who swung wide round the turn. However, Tetrarchate finished weakly in the circumstances and Alloy beat, him comfortably at. the end. Hannibaiy was. a length away third, with and Bronze Tray following. The value of the form shown in the race niay be gauged from the fact that the nine furlongs tooks 2.1 4-5, whereas Lady

Vane won a mile race later in the day in 1.41 1-5.

Gay Idea, an acceptor for the Auckland Cup, will now be unable to start as she is owned by Mrs. M. H. Powell, the wife of C. R. Powell. The Judicial Committee of the Dargivil'.e Pacing Club, as given in the official card, comprises: Messrs. A. C. Ball R. W. Cuthbert, J. H. McCarroK, W. B. Morris and C. S. Rush.
