Gene Sarazen won the British Open Golf Championship with a record aggregate of 283. MacDonald Smith (U.S.A.) was second with third amd fourth round scores of 71 —70, and Havers. third with oo and 7G. Details of the leading players re finish were as follows, the first column being for the first and second round and the second column for the thud and fourth rounds.

W. Hope, with 299, leads the amateurs.

In the third and fourth rounds the ecoro were: MacDonald Smith 71—<0, Havers (38 —76, C. Whiteombc 73 —75; Alliss, 78 —72, Padghani 74 —70, Davies 74—-75, Robson 78—71, Mitchell 73 72. Cotton 77 —72, Compston 75 —76, EWhtteombe 75—76, Armour 74 83, Bradibccr 79 —79.
