OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED RIVER CUTS.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. Opposition* to the Manawatu-Orbua River Board’s proposal to proceed with the Wihirokino cut was expressed by a deputation which went to Wellington from Palmlerston North _ on Wednesday to interview the Minister. The deputation consisted of Messrs J. Linkla.ter, MJP., A. E. Buchanan (.secretary of the Maniawatu-Oroua River Board Ratepayers’ Association), D Collis (chairman of the Ivairanga County Council), R. Tanner and I. Boddy (Kopane). , , The deputation objected to the work on the grounds that it would involve the ratepayers in heavy expense wit iout securing material benefit.
