MR PIDDINGTON’S RETIREMENT.
ATTORNEY-GENERAL’S COMMENT* SYDNEY, May 2hr The Attorney-General (Sir Daniel Levy), when asked last night for his views regarding Mr Justice Piddington’s resignation as a protest against the dismissal of Mr Lang, said: "‘We, as a Government are not interested in Mr Justice Piddington’s views on a . legal matter with which he lias no concern and which would never have come before him in any 'circumstances in his judicial capacity. “It is interesting to note that he will attain the age of 70 years early in S opt ember next, and he has merely predated 'by a few months, his belated, exit from judicial office in the hope that he mi ay now go out in a blaze of meretricious glory. “ The manner of Mr Justice Padding* ton’s resignation and the terms in. which it was couched confirm what Iras been repeatedly said, that he is a man of extreme political view;?, and these found suitable expression in his iinal outburst. ’ ’
