PAYOUT OF TENPENCE FOR MAY. SEASON CLOSES WITH SLIGHT INCREASE OF PRODUCTION. in sympathy with the continued low prices on the London market, the payout for the butter-fat supplied to the Levin factory last month has been fixed at lOd per lb, which has been the ruling figure from November onwards, with the exception of January, for which month the payment was at the rate of 9d —the lowest for 20 years. Pay-outs for Mav in recent years have been: 1931, !/-■ 1930, 1/-; 1929, 1/5; 1928, 1/5; 1927, 1/4. The latest quotations from the London market axe 95/to 97/- per cwt. The Levin Co-operative Dairy Company’s year closed at the end of last month, with a total production of 1535 tons 12 cwt 52 lib—an increase of 7 cwt. 35 lb over the preceding year. A dry autumn has given production a setback, and last month the quantity of butter-fat received at the factory was 10.3 per cent, less than in May, 1931. This week the factory has taken up the winter running, making butter on 'Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, instead of daily, which latter system will be resumed when the early spring calvers come into profit. The annual meeting of the company will be held towards the end of July.
