Tlie skeleton of a mastodon has been found in a glacial deposit in the Trabueo mountains, 30 miles cast of here, by John Romero, a Coahilloa Indian, he said to-day. ■ Romero, who has been engaged in botanical and archaeological research work on the Pacific Coast since 1599. said that Dr. William Strong, paleontologist of the Los Angeles Museum, estimated that the bones are 1,000,000 years old.
