IBRITAIN AND THE CURRENCY. WILL DEAL WITH CURRENT PROBLEMS British Official Wireless. Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. RUGBY, June 6. Mr. Neville Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, who has made a good recovery from an acute attack of gout, is expected to resume Parliamentary duties this week. He will probably he in the House of Commons on Wednesday and Thursday, when the report stage of the Finance Bill will he taken. It is expected that he will make an important speech on the third reading of the hill on Friday, when it is anticipated currency questions will be discussed. The economic problems will he touched upon in a general survey of the financial situation. Mr. Chamberlain will, it is stated, deal broadly with some of the issues to be raised in the coming confer- [ ences. ' The Prime Minister, who has curtailed his holiday owing to important business awaiting him, left Lossiemouth to-day by special train for London. The Prime Minister states that he has benefited greatly by the holiday, and he feels fit for the work before him. Germany Will Default Commercial Debts LONDON PREPARING FOR EVENTUALITIES Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, June 7. There are persistent reports on the Continent that Germany will default on her commercial debts unless relief is afforded by the Lausanne Conference. The city of London is preparing fox this eventuality. £1,010,000,000 ! GERMANY’S PAYMENTS TO ALLIES Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, June 7. Major Elliot, in a written answer in the House of Commons, said that Germany’s total payments to June, 1931, to the Allies and associated Governments for reparations and the cost of the Army of Occupation were £1,010,000,000 nt. par exchange.
