A guinea was donated to the Wellington School Committees’ and Educational Federation; for thir publicity campaign. The committee held a shop day to assist the local Boy Scout Troop, and also was able to assist the Agricultural Club by the provision of afternoon tea on the day of their annual judging. It is very pleasing to know the club is progressing so well, with branches formed at Shannon and Otaki.

lii August the Committee held a social evening at the school to enable parents to meet Miss Thelma Lissington, the organising secretary for the Junior Red 'Cross, and to hear of the Red Cross activities. In the same month a. social evening was tendered to the .School Committee. Your Committee’s thanks is tendered to Mr Meddings, late secretary of the School Committee, to Mr P. W. Goldslmith, honorary auditor, the Press, Association members and public in general for support during the year. Mr Goldslmith moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. He said the Association’s work had not involved any great fujnid-raising efforts, but nevertheless it appeared to have done some very useful things, which had been of assistance to the school.

Mrs Herrick seconded the motion, which was carried, without discussion. A vote of condolence with the family of Mrs G. Elliott, a member of the Committee, who passed away during the year, was carried in silence.

Mrs Blenkhorn said the Association.’s delegate to the conference of School •Committees and the Educational Federation in Wellington (Mrs Shirley) had drawn up a very capable and interesting report upon the proceedings which she read. The Chairman said they were eudebted to Mrs Shirley for her report, which -was received, she being accorded a hearty vote of thanks, ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows: • /Patron. —(Mr H. G. Kerslake. President. —Mr P. Meyers. Vice-presidents. —Mesdames D, S. Gal pin and T. Treen.' Secretary and treasurer.—Referred to committee to fill. Committee. —Mesdames W. Bull, W. G. Clark, H, Feigler, C. Thorpe, W. Windelqv, G. Shirley, P. G. Roe, C. Inder, P. Arcus, E. M. Herrick, W, Nye, Miss Bowen, Messrs Casey, ’dift and Meddings, with the Chairman and Secretary of the School Comlmittee. Auditor. —Mr P. W. Goldsmith. Some difficulty was experienced in filling the executive offices it being recognised that the retiring President and Secretary had put, such enthusiasm and time into the 'work that they were very difficult to follow.

Mr Casey said the 'third year of any movement was always its most critical year. Up to then it usually ran along on the momentum and enthusiasm that started it. He therefore urged that the retiring officers retain their connection and nominated Mrs Stallard as President, stating that he recognised that Mrs Elenkhorn had so many demajmds on her time as Mayoress that they ‘could not fairly ask her to continue.

Mrs Stallard not desiring to take office, and both o if the lady vice-pre-sidents declining nomination, the other vice-president, Mr Meyers, was prevailed on to become President.

Mr E. J. Foss, Headmaster, (moved a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring officers who had so ably seetia the As-

gociation through its initial stages and now handed it over to the incoming officers as a going concern. The President, Mrs Blenkhorn’s work outside the organisation was very strenuous, but she found time to extejud her activities to the school, which was deeply indebted to the enthusiasm which prompted her to expend some of her energy on the institution. The retiring secretary, Mrs iStallard, had special talents, which she brought to bear in launching the organisation and whether they agreed with all she had done or mot, she had. been a very live officer, an indefatigable worker, full of enthusiasm and the mainstay of the Association. The retiring vice-presidents were also included in the vote of thanks and appreciation, which the Headmasted moved.

Mrs F. G. Roe seconded the motion and Mr Goldsmith supported it, remarking that very good work had been done and the Association had made its mark on the school life of the town. In many ways they were endebted to the President and Secretary for the success which had attended their work. He agreed with Mr Casey that the third year was always difficult and the state of affairs at present did not help matters, still the work of the Association was hot yet completed amid he trusted those elected to ' office that night would carry on and do as good work in the future as in the past and have solmething to show at the end of their year. Mrs Blenkhorn thanked Mr Foss for his kind remarks which she appreciated very much as coming from the Headmaster. Her term of office had been very pleasant amid enjoyable and she was rather reluctant to give it up. However, there were very many calls upon her time that people did not know anything about and she had her home duties as well. She paid a tribute to the secretary’s work. Even the Committee did not know how much she had done to keep them together and get successful results. It had been a pleasure to preside over the Committee, and she could imot have done much without the support of such a fine body of people. She would only be too pleased to assist in any way and wished the Home and School Association success and the officers a successful year of office.

Mrs Stallard thanked the President and Comlmittee for their assistance and co-operation during the year. She specially appreciated Mr Foss’s remarks, and would be pleased to give the mew Secretary any assistance required. She had not been in the best of health and felt that the position of secretary could /best be filled by a parent having children at the school. If, after taking .a resit, she felt at some future time, that she could come back to the work, she would do so. Mrs Stallard also acknowledged the assistance received from secretaries of the School Committee, particularly Mir Meddings during the past year. Mesdames Herrick aimd Arcus, retiring vice-presidents, also spoke, in acknowledgment of the vote of thanks. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Goldsmith for presiding closed the meeting. The Committee will meet on the third Friday in the month at the school.
