Salvaging the Egypt’s Treasure
SILVER PLATE COMES TO SEEPAGE. Received Tuesday, 10.5 p.m. LONDON, June 7. The Daily Mail’s special correspondent says the Brest, divers have raised the first valuables from the Egypt’s strongroom which consist of a quantity of silver plate broken out of the cases owing to the shock of the blasting charges. It was badly damaged by water. There was also a case of two magnificent sporting rifles on which are gold plates engraved with a crown and initials which have been identified as part of the large shipment for the Maharajah of Patiala. The Artiglio’s chief diver, Eaffaelli, inspected the strongroom and reports that other valuables besides bullion, were stored there, the salvage of which will not be long delayed.
