Crawford Retains Men’s Singles Title WOMEN’S SINGLES TO MRS BUTTSWORTH Received Sunday, 10.30 p,m. ADELAIDE, Feb. 14. At the Australian tennis championships, in the final of the men’s singles Crawford (New South Wales) retained the title after a gruelling battle with Hopman (Victoria) 4—6, 6—3, 3 —o, 6—3, 6—l. • In the junior singles McGrath (New South Wales) beat Quist (South Australia) 6—4, 6—2. In the women’s singles Mrs. Buttsworth (New South Wales) beat Miss le Mesurier (South Australia) 9—7, 6—4. The final of the mixed doubles saw Crawford and Mrs. , Crawford beat Satoh and Mrs. O’Hara Wood 6 —3, 8 —6, 6—3. •In the women’s doubles Mesdamcs Crawford and Buttsworth beat Misses le Mesurier and Weston (South Australia) 6—2, 6—2. In the men’s doubles Crawford and Moon beat Patterson and Hopman 4—6, 6—4, 12 —10, 6—3.
