Position Improved Enormously

BRITISH PRESS COMMENT.

Received Monday, 9.20 p.m.. LONDON, Aug. 17

The Daily Telegraph’s financial editor indulges in an expression of satisfaction at the progress of the Australian conversion scheme. He says: “Australia's position has improved enormously during the past few months. Meanwhile Australia is preserving her credit abroad by not asking foreign bondholders to accept a curtailment of interest. Apparently the danger of default is now definitely averted and holders of Australian stock can continue confidently to retain their holdings."
