FLOOD POSITION WORSE.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE NOW HOMELESS. TOWNS SUFFER SEVERELY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10,10 a.m.) v SYDNEY, June 26. Heavy rain continues to fall over most of the flooded areas of the State. Rivers are rising rapidly, and the danger to human life and stock is increasing. Residents of inland towns are ■becoming gravely alarmed. Thousands of people are homeless, as* the flood-waters, are surrounding their homes, destroying farm property.
The danger is particularly acute at Wagga. The police rescued nine people from the house-tops. The stock loss has been tremendous.
Gundagai is inundated, while Urana and Adelong are experiencing the worst floods for 40 years.
The rivers in north-western Victoria are" still rising, and Tallangatta is isolated, with water feet deep in the main street.
Flooded homes general in many other towns.
