UNSTAMPED BOWLS REJECTED. Twelve bowls were rejected before the champion of champions rinks games at Wellington on ••Wednesday. Players had assembled on the green, ready to commence play when the umpire, Mr. C. Bary, called for all bowls to be put dow r n for inspection to see it they bore the Dominion stamp of 1926 or later, as required by the rules. When the rule had been run over them it was found that 12 bowls did not bear the required stamp, and the owners were debarred from using them, being loaned bowls by members of the Wellington Club,. The dubs concerned were Johnsonvillc, Khandallah and Seatoun. It is evident that some of the clubs or members are still lax in observing the rule, for some of the bowls condemned had been used in previous competitions, despite the warning given generally, and to individual clubs by the centre in November last. An incident which happened in the centre tournament at Christmas and New Year, who a bowler was disqualified in one game for using a narrow bowl, also was a warning Laxity on the part of any other umpires on other occasions did not prevent the umpire in seeing that the rules were observed on Wednesday. A report will be made to the centre, and definite steps may be taken to see that in future competitive games the rules shall be strictly observed. The onus will probably be placed on club officials to see that bowls are stamped and otherwise in order.
