At the declaration of the East Sydney poll to-day the successful Labour candidate, Mr. Ward, declared the fight for the Lang proposals was just beginning. “We shall carry it right through Australia,” he added.. Sir Harrison Moore, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Melbourne University, speaking at a lunch-hour gathering, sounded a warning against the secession movement and suggested co-operation between the Commonwealth and State Governments “if this very serious movement is to be checked.” FLIGHT OF CAPITAL FROM AUSTRALIA. Received Tuesday, 1,0 a.m. CANBERRA, March 9. It is reported that the Federal Commissioner of Taxation is beginning an investigation into the flight of capital from Australia. The investigation will include the purchase of New Zealand shares and Jjonds by sharebrokers on behalf of clients travelling ,to America who realise upon them in the Dominion. In this way people unable to get accommodation from the banks beyond £2OO have been able to replenish their funds. COALMINER AS AGENT-GENERAL. Received Monday, Midnight. SYDNEY, March 9. Hon. Albert O. Willis, leader of the Government in the Legislative Council of New South Wales and vice-presi-dent of the Executive Council, has been appointed Agent-General in succession to Sir George Fuller, whose term in London has expired. Originally a coal miner, Mr. Willis became secretary ol the Australian Coal and Shale Em-, ployees’ Federation in 1915. He was appointed to the Legislative Council by the Lang Administration in 1925.
