CAPTAIN CAMPBELL KNIGHTED. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright. ) Official Wireless. RUGBY, Feb. 19. The King has conferred a knighthood on Captain Campbell, who reached Southampton to-day. The news of the honour was conveyed to him in a note from the Prime Minister, who expressed his personal congratulations. In an interview Captain Campbell said the Bluebird had not done her tastcst yet. If an American aspirant gained the record, Captain Campbell would attempt to regain the title. FINE RESIDENCE GONE. FIRE ALSO DESTROYS VALUABLE CURIOS. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day. Eastwood Hill, the residence of Mr W. D. Cook, situated in beautiful grounds, which formed one of the show places of the district, has been destroyed by tire. A valuable collection of curios was lost. The house was insured for £ISOO and’ the contents for £2250, in the Phoenix office. TWO DWELLINGS AND A LAUNDRY DESTROYED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. A five-roomed dwelling, owned by J, J. Deboo and occupied by T. H. Calcraft, at Riverlands, was totally destroyed by fire. No fire fighting apparatus was available. The insurances are £6OO on the house and £IOO on the furniture and effects. Early this morning a seven-roomed dwelling, owned and occupied by S. E. Brown, was badly gutted by fire. The cause is said to be an electric iron left switched on. The rear of ,the premises was used as a laundry. A considerable amount of linen belonging to three hotels and private owners was destroyed. The house was insured for £6OO and a cover of £3OO was on the contents.
