The magistrate and the priest in the village of Paramurai were driving a sled, when a pack of wolves, driven from the mountains by the severe weather, followed their trail. The men drove off the first attack, shooting two of the wolves, and the pack then fled; but the magistrate and the priest left the sled in order to secure the wolves’ carcases, leaving their rifles behind. The frightened horses bolted when the wolves returned; and a rescue party found the men’s skeltons.
