PERSONAL.
The radio operator of the Southern Cross on its flight across, the Tasman, Mr T. H. McWilliams, is visiting Auckland with his bride;, formerly Miss Marjorie Winifred Mair, of Hunterville. The young couple were married in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Hunterville, on December 30. .
The many friends of Mr Rod A. McDonald will regret to learn that his condition lately, after a partial recovery from recent illness, has not been so satisfactory. For the past week he has been in the Palmerston North Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for an internal trouble. We trust he will speedily be restored to his accustomed good health.
One of the very earliest settlers in, the Hawera district, Mrs Priscilla A’Court, wife of Mr William A’Court, aged 83, passed peacefully away on Sunday after an illness of about three months. Born at Lower Hutt on June 4th, 1847, she was the daughter of tbs ’ate Mr and Mrs Charles Cundy, who arrived at Port Nicholson in one of the early ships. Mr Cundy was the first to take a dray over the Rimutakas into the Wairarapa, and settled at Featherston, "where he lived all his life. Mrs A’Court was married at Featherston on June 21st, 1873, and with her husband rode through to Patea and then on to Hawera. They had lived there ever since, bringing up a family of five and being highly respected by many friends. Mrs A’Court was throughout her long life a devoted adherent of the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband and family of three daughters—Mrs J. A. Mitchell Mrs Nl H. Beal (New Plymouth), and Mrs V. Williams (Hamilton), and one son, Mr Norman A’Court, of Hawera, also two grand-children.
