OVERDRAFT INCREASED TO PAY GOVERNMENT WAGES.

The Premier and Treasurer, Mr Hill, speaking on the third reading of the Taxation Bill said it had been necessary to obtain an increased overdraft from the Commonwealth Bank to pay salaries and wages iu the Government service. The bank reluctantly agreed to increase the overdraft from £620,000 to £750,000. The Bill, which proposes to increase the income tax rates to Is Id in the £ and land tax to Id in the £ was passed.
