HOBBS PESSIMISTIC.

OVER RETURN OF ASHES Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 24. The Daily Herald publishes an interview with Hobbs in which he says that ■he does not see aay chance of England leeaptaring the ashes in the next series of tests. "We are faced with a tremendous task. England wants new blood and young blood but I cannot see where it is coming from. There is a dearth of bowlers of all kinds in England while Australia has quite a number of promising youngsters. We have nobody equal to them. [ can see only seven certainties for the next visit to Australia. These are Sutcliffe, Hammond, Leyland, Duleepsinhji, Duckworth, Wyatt and Peebles.

TEST AVERAGES,
