Gloucester was resumed in ' fine weather and on a goop. wicket. The visitors’/first innings produced 157. County, in their second strike, had compiled 147 for the loss of three wickets, after the drawing of stumps. There was an attendance of 10,000, who saw Ponsford and Jackson make a ■cautious start, the Gloucester bowlers making the ball turn considerably. •Jackson batted an hour for eight before he was bowled. Bradman was more restrained than usual. After he and Ponsford had been .dismissed, the rest of the side failed against the good howling of Park, Goddard and Sinfield. Gloucester batted again, in the presence of 17,000 spectators. Dipper and Hammond defied the bowling, and the latter was responsible.for County quickly wiping off their deficit. Hammond played his best innings against the Australians this season. He reiached 50 in 55 minutes, his score including 10 fours. He then lifted Grimmett for a mighty six.'
