HOCKEY.
MEN'S MATCHES. On Wednesday championship fixtures were advanced another stage. At Otaki the local 'juniors met To Horo's second eleven, and an even contest resulted in a draw, 2—2. Be van, playing well for Otaki, scored two goals in the first half, while McDonald, a player -with' dash, scored tries for Te Horo in the second half. The Otaki boys did well, and had the backs fed the forwards the latter would have been seen to better advantage. The Te Horo backs and forwards played creditably, especially Hayward and McDonald. Messrs Parker and Adsctt were referees. Otaki and Levin seniors had a splendid game, the latter eventually winning, 3—l, but had it not been for the fine defensive play of the Levin goalkeeper the scores would have been reversed. Mr Whitehousc was referee. MAORIS FORFEIT. The Levin Maoris, being unable to muster-a team, forfeited to Te Horo Seniors. LEVIN JUNIOR. Levin Juniors forfeited to Paraparaumu. LADIES' MATCHES. At Otaki the newly-formed Levin Club met Raukawa, and although the latter had several seasoned players, the northerners did well, ancf for a time seores stood, one all. Later, however, J&aukawa netted two others, and the game resulted in favour of £he locals, 3—l. Miss Hobson scored for Levin, while Miss B. Hakaraia (2) and Miss Budge scored for Raukawas. Messrs Parker and Knox were referees. This game was played at Te Horo and resulted in a draw, after an. even go. Mrs Seal and Miss Perrin were the scorers. Messrs Kilmister and Spiers refcrecd. ' The match between the Manakau and Paraparauniu ladies resulted in a win for the former, I—o. LADIES' ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Otaki'Ladies' Hockey Association was held at. Otaki. Present: Messrs Parker (chairman), Adsett, Nicolson, and Kilmister (secretary). A letter was received from the Levin Club applying for list of fixtures, and asking if they were in "A" or "B" grade.—lt was decided to send fixtures, and to inform the Club that all teams in the Association were in the one grade. It was decided to cancel all matches for June 4th (race-day at Otaki). It was resolved to enter two teams for the Palmerston tournament, to be held on June 3rd, and to pay half the expenses of players. Messrs Kilmister and Parker were appointed selectors.
