An actress broke a pearl necklace and her pet dog swallowed the largest pearl, which was recovered oy means o| an emetic. This pearl, however, was diminished in size, presumably having been partly dissolved in the’dog’s stomach. The company paid the difference between the present value and the value of the gem before it was swallowed.
