STOLE FROM A FRIEND.
YOUNG STUDENT’S LAPSE

Hi the Magistrate’s Court, Harold James Martin Toms, 21, a student .it Cc’legc Horse, pleaded guilty to stealing £2O from Charles Gilbert Bryan King. Counsel said accused obtained employment in Mr King’s office at Tiuiaru during the vacation. His family were not in good circumstances. Creditors were pressing accused and he yielded to temptation. Accused was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution.
In reply to a request for the suppression of accused’s name, Mr Mosley said: “There is too much of this kind of thing in New Zealand and punishment must be meted out. He stole from a friend and I don’t think I owuld be doing my duty if I ordered the suppression of the young man’s name.’’
