SUCCESSES OF HOROWHENUA PIG BREEDERS. Levin district exhibitors wore prominent among the successful competitors in the pig division at the New Plymouth Show last week. The championship for Berkshire boar was obtained by Mr John Morgan, of Weraroa, with Horowhonua’s Lady Bay,' and ho secured the championship for sow with Weraroa Maud. The former exhibit was first in the class for boar, 16 months and under, fit for stud purposes, and the other animal was first in the class for sowover 16 months. In the open classes for pigs, Mr Morgan secured first for ,sow over 18 months, first and second for sow between six and 12 months, and first and second for sow under six months. Mr Ran. A. MacDonald exhibited the champion Tamworth sow, this being Tawera Lady IV„ which was first in the class for sow over 16 months. In Berkshires he obtained first and second with two entries in the class for sow eight months and under, and second for boar eight, months and under. From the neighbouring district of Tiakitahuna, Mr E. P. Neilsou and Mr D. Buchanan sent a number of entries of Large Whites. Mr Neilson obtained the boar championship, one first, throe seconds and' three third prizes; Mr D. Buchanan, reserve championship far sow, three firsts and a second. The sow championship went, to Mr 13. Clausen, of Palmerston North, who also , won several class prizes in this section. In the open section Mr E. P. Neilsou was awarded the championship fur sow ' and litter.
