OTAKI WITHDRAWS,

Recently the Otaki Club signified its intention of withdrawing'from tho Manawatu Centre and placing itself under the jurisdiction of Wellington. In taking this action, the Otaki officials made it plain that their decision was influenced purely by the question of territorial proximity. The Manawatu Association decided to write to Otaki asking the southern club to re-consider its decision, and has received tho following reply from tho president (Mr. W. White Scott):— “1 have placed your letter before my committee, and while appreciating your desire to retain this club in your centre, my committee unanimously decided to join the Wellington Centre. “I trust this decision will in no way affect the friendly relations between this club and the Palmerston North clubs, and wo shall bo delighted to receive a visit from you at any time.” It is to be regretted that the centre is losing this valuable outpost, but at the same time bowlers will appreciate the fact that Otaki is much closer to Wellington than to Palmerston North and naturally comes within Wellington territory. Cordial relations have always existed between the Palmerston North clubs and Otaki, and those will bo maintained under the now order of things.—Manawatu Times.
