FURTHER RAIDS ON PALESTINE FRONT

The Colonial Office slates: —
“Successful action was taken against, a party of raiding Arabs on the evening of September 3 at El M esha, a village east, of Mount Tabor. Twentysix casualties were inflicted on the raiders, while one soldier was slightly won ruled.
“The Freiich authorities in Syria have posted detachments on the Palestine frontier north of Safed in order to prevent the incursion of Arabs into our territory.
“During Wednesday the situation remained generally quiet. Aircraft continue to carry out: systematic patrols over the whole country.”
Sir John Chancellor, the British High Commissioner in Palestine, stated today;—
“ Representations have been made to me which point to a belief in the minds of certain people that the trial of persons charged with criminal acts is to bo confined to one section of the population.
''This belief docs not correctly interpret the intentions of the Government which arc that since crimes of variou« descriptions are known to have been perpetrated by both Arabs and .Tews, all offenders without distinction of race or creed will be brought to trial before the courts to ire sot up.- *'
Cordon of Troops Round Village

Forming a cordon round the village of Lifta, British troops searched the houses and arrested 200 Arab peasants, who were handcuffed and marched to Jerusalem.
