IE HORO HOCKEY SOCIAL.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Te Horo Hockey Club,, after winning the Nicolson Shield and Green Cup, decided to celebrate the event, and on Wednesday night held a victory dance at the Te Horo Hall. There was a large attendance, every bit of available space being used by dancers who appeared to enjoy themselves thoroughly. The decorations, chiefly blue streamers, were effective, while the stage had received special attention. Georges’ orchestra played first-class music, while the M.C., Mr. V. Cottle, kept things moving merrily throughout. Others who were well to the fore were Messrs Vic Morgan, R. Hagan, and R. Wimlley (secretary). AH worked splendidly and had very able assistance from their dub members, while the ladies’ committee worked equally us hard. The floor was highly polished and the supper very appetising. Prior to supper Mr. K. Hagan, President of the Club, asked that members of the Association make (he presentation. Mr. H. Nicolson, President of the Association, said that it {.{wo him great pleasure in presenting both the shield and the cup to the dub. Members, he said, had played in a sporting spirit throughout the season, and the win was well deserved. Air. Nicolson pointed out that .the shield was a new trophy and that therefore the To Horo Club would be the first to have its name engraved thereon. The cup, Instated, was also a valuable trophy, but had previously been played for, the Te Horo Club having its name engraved on the trophy in 1914. Regret was expressed that Mr. F. Best, captain of: the Club, was unavoidably absent, ami in handing the trophies to Air. Fredf Alorgan (vice-captain) Air. Nicolson warmly congratulated that player and his team. Cheers for the dub were then heartily given. Mr. R. Hagan, who replied on behalf of the Club, said all were naturally pleased at their success, and pleased at being the winners of such handsome trophies. The win would be an incentive to play on, and he hoped next season that there would again be keen competition. He thanked all who had attended the function and trusted one and all would have a good lime. (A** plause).
