TOO MANY GOVERNMENTS.

SUBSTANCE OF AN AUSTRALIAN COMMISSION’S REPORT,

MORE FEDERAL POWER SUGGBST-

<By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day.

The belief that Australia has too many Governments for its six million of population, thereby increasing the burden of taxation, finds support, says the Melbourne Herald, in reports of the Constitutional' Commission which was appointed last year to inquire into the constitution of the Commonwealth in the light of experience gained since Federation. Four sectional reports were prepared on the matter. They suggest giving increased power to the Commonwealth Government. The Labour minority report recommends the abolition of the State Parliaments as tit present constituted and the creation af new States or provinces governed fry local bodies deriving their powers from the Commonwealth Parliament.
