GREATER AREA BUT DIMINISH ED YIELDS [ CHIEE INCREASE IN U.S.A. WASHINGTON, June 20. Tho Department of Agriculture estimates a total yield of 41,000,000 acres in wheat in 22 countries, or about 0,000,000 acres greater than in 1028, the chief increase being 4,200,000 acres in the United States. “While it is too early to make a very definite forecast of the world’s crop, condition.' now generally suggest it may bo at least five per cent, less than last year.” Droughts in Argentina and Huiope will be held responsible for the modification of the earlier estimates that the world’s crop would bo larger than in 1928. The department, estimated the prospect was for an increase of from 125,000,000 to 350,000,000 bushels in tho world carry-over of wheat as at July 1, compared with 1928 and most of which' will bo in the United States.
