WELL-KNOWN JOURNALIST DEAD.
ME. M, C. KEANE, BDITOE OP CHEISTCHUEOH PEESS.
(By Telegraph—Press, Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The death has occurred of Mr. M. C. Keane aged 49; editor of the Press. Ho succumbed to pneumonia after a short but severe illness.
The late Mr Michael Cormac Keane was'a New Zealander, having been born at Hokitika. Ho was educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School and Canterbury College, and had a brilliant career. He took the M.A, degree at the ago of 21,' and after being a reporter on the Evening Post, Wellington, from 1004 to 1900, ho was appointed assistant editor of the New Zealand Times, being then 26. Oa .the establishment of the Dominion in the following year, he received a similar appointment. He held that position until 1913, and then joined the staff of the Christchurch Press, of which, in 1919, he wa; appointed editor.
