It again appears that the EngineDrivers’ Union will precipitate a general coal strike. Mr Atkins, the Union Secretary, has made a statement which, in effect, repudiates the undertaking of the combined mining unions to accept the one-shilling reduction per ton if the commission finds that the owners’ profits arc less than two shillings per ton.
