LIFT FALLS THREE STORIES.
FOUR OCCUPANTS SUFFER INJURIES.

A lift at the warehouse of Brown, Barrett, Ltd., Customs Street, fell from a height of three floors this morning. Five people wore in the lift, going 1.) the top floor, A lad named Dalmaiu got out at the second floor to get his apron. He walked to. r the third floor, and was horrified to see the lift rushing down the lift-well. The lift crashed to the basement, where the occupants were released. All four were taken to hospital. 11. Plank, of Onehunga, an elderly man, has both ankles broken and his back injured. Of three girls in the lift, Miss D Scott and Miss W. Keller both had the right ankle broken, and Miss Geddes sustained a sprained ankle. Ah inspection of the lift showed that the rope had not broken. Apparently the pin holding the vertical rack against the cogwheel had broken or come out, with the result that the drum upon which the wire rope is wound revolved at a great pace.
