CONCLUDING DAY AT FOXTON.

SIR ROY WINNER OF PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP. MILLAIS AND MONAGHAN SUCCESSFUL. Conditions for the second day of the Foxton Racing Club's annual meetiug were a duplicate of the first, which is equivalent to saying that it was a great success all through. The tote put through £13,795 as against £12,179 for the off day last year. The total for the meeting was £31,159, an increase over the 1928 fixture of £4242. Deluge was at a short price for the Hurdles, from which Rouen and Arkansas were withdrawn and won with i little in hand. Rash, the second favourite, took charge from the barrier rise with Deluge, Asleep and Roburant, Lin Arlington and Hymestrason in that order. Running across the top the leaders "were Rash, Hymestrason and Lin Arlington, followed through the straight by Deluge, Asleep and Roburant. At the six furlongs peg, Hymestrason was on terms with Rash, Deluge being right up behind. Rash was pushed up to the lead again anil rounding tho heme turn the order was Rash', Lin Arlington, Hymestrason and Deluge. Lin Arlington headed the others into the straight, but although he withstood tho challenge of Roburant, ho had to strike his colours to Deluge, which got up in time to win by a length, with Roburant two lengths behind Lin Arlington. Rash ivas fourth and Hymestrason and Asleep next.

One. Two Three 1 Punters showed remarkable discern ment in their judgment of tho Motuit; maidens which ran as they were backed. Disrauk was at a very short price and Bione and Snowshoe, which filled tho minor positions, were the only others wanted. Bione showed up first, with Snowshoe and Fallow, and when the field had settled down, the order was Bione, Snowshoe, Disrank, Basaloma and Degree. Into the straight Bione was ahead of Disrank and Snowshoe, but the favourite came away at the distance and after a good tussle, was pushed up by vigorous riding to beat Bione by a length. Snowshoe was nearly two lengths further back, then came Degree, Otauru Lass, Fallow and Fine Acre. Sir Roy Succeeds.

Sir Roy was selected for the McAulay stable iu the President's Handicap in preference to Nightmarch, and punters were not slow to follow the lead. The Clarenceaux gelding was always favourite and he wound up at something like a Gloaming price. Bright Day was paying a good deal more than twice as much, Kalos and Discourse were at a good price, while Twink' and EoyaJ Game wore paying royalty. It was a good race, Eeed riding a characteristic finish on the favourite to beat the outsider, Twink, by a head. Tho leader? along tho straight were Koyal Game, Sir Roy nod Kalos, and approaching the .i\ furlongs peg they ran Royal Game clear of Kalos and Bright Day' with Sir Roy and Twink following and Discourse last. There was no change at the halfmile, except that Twink was then a length and a-half in front of Sir Roy, with Discourse still Inst. Twink con-

tinued to push forward and at the straight entrance was on Royal Game's quarters, with Sir Roy next, Ka10.% on the rails and Discourse moving to the outside. Twink had charge at the stand, but Sir Roy- finished in dashing style and took the honours by a head. Royal Game was a length away, followed by Kalos, Discourse and Bright Day. A Mob of Youngsters,. All went into the starter's hands for the Nursery Handicap, won by Tenacre, which was a little less fancied than Acredity and Royal Line. Kentish Lady showed the way out, with Green Field, Tenacre, Postman and Acredity in close attendance. Crossing the top, Kentish Lady, Tenacre, Tapestry, Green Field, Royal Line and Acredity was the order. The leaders were atill undisturbed as heads were set for home. Kentish Lady survived to within 20 yards of the post, when Tenacre got up to beat her by a length, with the hard-ridtlen Tapestry half a length further from victory. Green Field, Acredity an.? Bon Acre were next. The favourite did not flatter at any part of the journey and coat her followers some £750 odd on the two days. Humpty Dumpty.

"With the two Foxton-trained acceptors, Miss Pat and Lady Limond, out of the Wharangi Handicap, only fou; were left to contest the issue and a sorry attempt tho public made to place the winner. Epistle was a hot favourite, with just about half the wagers. Callanmore was £2G7 behind and Millais and Helotis, with £3 between them, were at a long price. Helotis, Callanmore, Millais and Epistle left the barrier in that order and at tho half-mile, these positions were still being maintained at intervals, of two lengths, half a length and three lengths. The favourite was going sourly and Callannloro was being conlidently looked for. However, Millais headed him into the straight, where Helotis still hold her ground. Millais got on terms 30 yards from the post and went on to win by a length from Helotis,, with Callanmore and Epistle at further intervals of a length. Balloon Goes Up.

A good field of nine paraded for the Carnarvon Hack Cup race, Dermod being the only absentee. The winner turned up in Balloon, which paid double figures to beat the top-weight Henna, by three lengths. Gold Cure was urgently wanted by the largest section of speculators, but he failed to arrive in time. Bissac and Balloon got away early with Gold Cure and running to the back, the order was Gold Cure, Boundary, Balloon and Bissac. Half-way round, Gold Cure and Boundary were together, a good two lengths clear of the other two. Here Royal Black, Mister Gamp and Aurora Borealis made a forward move, Henna still being well down the line. Boundary headed Gold Cure into the straight, with Bissac, Balloon and Mister .Gamp next. Balloon moved out at the half distance and made no bones about winning. Henna's chance to get through came too late and it was a gallant effort that got her second money, half a length ahead of Boundary. Bissac came again to get fourth placo and was succeeded by Kilorell, Royal Black, Mister Gamp and Gold Cure.

Because of a challenge regarding the length of the course for this race, the stewards estimated that it was 10 yards short of a mile from the mile post and instructed the starter to send off the field from behind the barrier with s flag.

Monaghan On Again. In a five-horse race, Monaghan vraa made a £32 better favourite for tho Moutoa Handicap than Maui and that was about the difference in form between them. Monaghan lost no time in announcing his intention to go for th<» doctor, being chased out of tho barrier by Vigilance, Beaumont and Maui, with Wilderness, which bled again, last all the way. Crossing the top Monaghan was running a couple of lengths clear of Maui, Beaumont and Vigilance. Maui was up to the leader's girth at th» entrance to the straight and a great duel took place, with Monaghan getting the honours by a bare head. Vigilancewas a length away and Beaumont fourth. Wilderness walked homo. Atholr-poar Thrusts Hor.o.

Tho appearance of Wr.r.' ; !!e in l!u'

last race produced a mild boom in Warplane stock and her tickets sold freely. White Kinglet was a good second fav* ourite and the other five contestants were paying a good price. First Ruler, Sambur and Volplane were in front wlh-,u the bustling field had settled down, the favourite being last to find her feet. With four furlongs gone, Sambur and Volplane had headed First Kuler, Warfille having gone up to third an the rails and got knocked back again to the rear. Into the straight, Volplane, Sambur, White Ringlet and Atholspear were close together, and the last-named, hard rid'lo-a, won by half a length from the £ast-<iai«hing Warfille, which beat Volpxane bv a length. White Ringlet was fourth, after a disappointing perwas fourth, and Landguard and Sambur ■were next. ACCEPTANCES FOE BAY OT ISLANDS. WHAXGAREI, Last Ntgfct.
