POWER BOARD OPERATIONS.
EXTENSION FOE WAIMEA EOAD
At the fhonlhly meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board on Tuesday, the following report, covering the period since the .previous meeting, was submitted by the Engineer (Mr. ,C. A. Smith): — Twenty-one uew service ’ lines have boon run and extra phases run on live existing service linos. Thirty-throe polos have been carted out, fitted and erected and chains of wire run. Small extensions to l.t. lines have been made at Tasman Beach, Moana Road, Paraparaumu, and Ocean Road, Para paraumu Beach. Extra phases and heavier cables have been run on Ocean Road, Paraparaumu Beach, and l.t. extended on existing poles, on Paraparaumu Beach Road to supply the Hull County Council’s water pump. Extra phases have been run at Otaki, North,, to supply three ranges. A short extension and extra phases wo.re run at Foxton Beach. Extra transformers were 'installed at Raumati and.’Paraparaumu Beaches to cope with the 'extra load during the holidays. The usual maintenance, attention to sub-station and street lamp renewals have been carried out.
Installations. —During the i>briod ,10 applications from new consumers and II applications (or extensions to exist installations liavc been received, comprising one range, three milking motors, two pumping, motors and eight lighting installations. Twenty-seven new consumers and 20 extensions have been connected, including 13 ranges, six water-heaters, one milking" motor, and seven industrial motors, ‘making a total increase for the period of 121.052 k.w. Four single-phase and three polyphase meters have been repaired and re-tested and two ranges tested and delivered to consumers.
Waimea Road Extension, Waikanae Beach,—The estimated cost of extending the l.t. lines from Bauparaha Street, along Waimea Road as far as Messrs Woggery’s, is £14(5, and the estimated revenue from the places built and in course of erection, is about £32 10s per annum. There are three cottages about 10 chains further on, but the owners are not intending to install electricity at present. The lino could to© further extended to the water-front, a distance of about, 22 chains, when sufficient houses are erected.
The report was adopted, and authority was given for the Waimea Road extension, provided (hat a revenue of £32 10s is assured.
