What is believed to be a re volutionjiry step in the development of aircraft power io announced by the Packard Company officials at Detroit* after the successful test of an aariv plane whose power was supplied by a» oil-burning motor. This is the first Diesel type of aircraft ever built. The test flight waa> made with a Stinson Detroiter monoplane. The motor is of. the radial aircooled type and develops 200 how*power. The oil fuel eliminates gasolene ignition systems and spark plugs and also removes the danger of firo from gasolene and reduces consumption and'fuel costs. The claimr is • made that the motor will carry a plane 25 per Gent farther with thesame >wcight in all fuel, compared witli f gasolene..
